ETS Group were appointed by Olympus Academy Trust to carry out the design and build refurbishment of 2 classrooms into IT Suites at Patchway Community College.

Challenges

The project was to create two IT Suites from 2 classrooms and adjacent store rooms. The works included the removal of existing walls to open the areas up, complete a strip out of the rooms back to bare shell, including flooring, ceilings, lighting, power, data, plumbing, fixtures and fittings, windows and asbestos panels to external façade. Installation of a new sub and distribution board to the IT Suites, dado trunking to the perimeter walls to include power and data. Benching with bespoke framework to accommodate up to 40 PC Stations. The benching included access containment underneath for data and power, with access grommets in the desk to allow connection of the cables from the PCs, wiring to the teacher’s station and an interactive TV at the front of the suite. New suspended ceilings and sensor controlled LED recessed Lighting Panels were installed. Removal of the asbestos cladding panels and installation of new windows. New plumbing and radiators. New carpet throughout and all surfaces re-decorated.

The Results

The schools now benefits from state-of-the-art IT suites, with flexibility for up to 40 pupils per suite.
