Design & Build Refurbishment
ETS Group were appointed by Cargill as the main contractor to carry out a design & build refurbishment of the staff restaurant at their Balliol meat processing plant in Wolverhampton.

Challenges

The brief was to refurbish their existing site canteen to provide a 110-seater restaurant, that would not only be a more attractive space to cater for their 200 factory shift workers but would also encourage the office staff to take a break away from their desks to eat. The design needed to be not only aesthetically pleasing, but allow for different catering scenarios including larger seasonal gatherings, informal meetings and the ability to provide for the night shift when the main servery is closed – all whilst taking inspiration from Cargills corporate colour pallet.

The Results

Cargill now benefit from a flexible space with different seating options in which to eat, meet, and relax. A variety of finishes and screening complimented by a new energy efficient lighting design helped to compartmentalise the space, separating the servery from the main restaurant area, which now boasts not only flexible dining furniture and booth seating but additionally a lounge coffee shop area and a self-serve kitchenette with vending bank.
